Artists catalogue and paper samples
Paper and Fire was published on the occasion of the second Holland Paper Biennial of 1998. In the first section of the bi-lingual book, 16 paper artists talk about their work. These accounts are accompanied by photos and paper samples of the products created by the artists.
The second part of the book consists of 8 essays surrounding the theme, 'paper and fire', ranging from the history of paper hot-airballoons, the use of asbestos paper and cigarette-papers, to articles about ink corrosion and Chinese offertory paper.
The rise and fall of the strawboard factory in Groningen called 'The Phoenix' is also detailed. The entire book is illustrated throughout with images related to the theme of 'paper and fire'.
In 1999, Paper and Fire won a European Design Award in London.
